As part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Elles publishing house screened the Senegalese film Black Girl, one of the landmark works in African cinema.
The film offers a deeply human perspective on the experience of an African woman facing alienation and exploitation. Released in 1966, it is adapted from a short story in the collection “Voltaïque” by Ousmane Sembène.
The audience enjoyed a powerful cinematic journey that shed light on women’s struggles within complex social contexts, reaffirming the ongoing relevance of such films in addressing issues of violence and justice.
