Honna Publishing House announced that An Inconvenient Time to Buy Fish, a short story collection by Ghazlan Touati published by Honna in 2024, has been longlisted for the Al Multaqa Prize for the Arabic Short Story in its 8th edition (2025–2026).
The Al Multaqa Prize for the Arabic Short Story is one of the most prominent literary awards dedicated to this genre. Established in 2015 in Kuwait, it is organized through a partnership between the Cultural Forum (Al Multaqa) and the American University of Kuwait, and is awarded annually to one published Arabic-language short story collection in print.
The nomination comes as part of a competitive longlist that includes a number of notable Arabic short story publications, reaffirming the growing presence of feminist narrative voices and highlighting the role independent publishing houses play in supporting diverse literary experiences and bringing them to wider Arab recognition.
