Every March, Elles Publishing House hosts its annual Feminist Translation Workshop, bringing together translators to work on feminist academic and literary texts, with the aim of opening new avenues for reflection and creativity in translating feminist works.
The workshop goes beyond simply transferring texts from one language to another; it emphasizes feminist awareness during translation, considering the author, the text, and the characters. It also provides opportunities for collaborative work, language skill development, and the production of books featuring the contributions of participants.
Notable outcomes of the workshop include books such as “Black Feminism: Insights from bell hooks and Angela Davis”, “ABC of Feminist Pedagogy: Reimagining the Foundations of Education”, “How to Build a Feminist Movement in the Kitchen”, and “Identity and Difference: On Judith Butler’s Text and Its Margin”.
