Elles Publishing House launched the fifth edition of its Feminist Translation Workshop with an opening session titled “An Introduction to Feminist Translation,” led by Dr. Maya Al-Rahbi, Founder and Director of Musawa – Women’s Studies Center. Dr. Al-Rahbi joined the session online, while participants gathered in person at Elles Publishing House.
The session explored a number of foundational questions that shape the workshop, including: What is feminist translation? How did this field emerge? How can we navigate the challenges of translation? And why do we need a feminist approach to translation?
This opening session marks the beginning of a multi-week learning journey that combines reading, translation, and collaborative work, encouraging participants to rethink translation as a critical and knowledge-producing practice while collectively producing translated texts.
