Discussion SessionCare and Care Work from a Feminist Perspective
April 4 @ 5:30 am – 6:00 am
“Care is not just an emotion; it is a political and social practice.” — Joan Tronto
In a world shaped by violence, war, and inequality, care becomes both a political and ethical
question.
Who cares for whom?
Who performs the invisible care work that sustains life?
And what values can ground a feminist understanding of care?
Elles Publishing House, in collaboration with GIZ Egypt, is organizing a discussion session on
care and care work from a feminist perspective.
Together, we will read and discuss selected excerpts from feminist writings on the ethics of care,
reflecting on their connection to women’s daily labor, the city, and possible forms of solidarity.
The main reading is taken from the book “Inspired by Ecofeminism” published by Elles, along
with a selection of related texts.
