Cinema Elles | Screening and Discussion of They Lived There by Sally Abu Basha

|

As part of the Cinema Elles program, Elles Publishing House hosted a screening of They Lived There, directed by Sally Abu Basha and produced by Al Jazeera Documentary.

The film explores the impact of migration and displacement on individuals and families through the letters of an absent father, tracing changing notions of belonging over time and following the story of an Egyptian family whose life is transformed across generations.

The screening was followed by a discussion with the filmmaker, offering space to reflect on themes of memory, family, and migration, in line with Cinema Elles’ commitment to fostering dialogue around social and human issues through cinema.
