Elles Book Club hosted a discussion of My Black Box, with the author and journalist Nahed Imam in attendance. The discussion was moderated by writer Sara Raafat.
The session provided a space for sharing different readings and perspectives on the book, opening up a conversation about its ideas and the questions and reflections it raises.
My Black Box is an autobiographical work about recovery from spiritual and emotional abuse. Through the author’s personal story, the book explores a critical period marked by upheavals and transformations in Egyptian identity, and how these changes affected her. Blending personal experience with the broader social context, the book weaves them into a tightly crafted literary narrative with a psychologically powerful impact.
