The Feminist Reading Group at Honna was established at the beginning of 2025 as a continuous collective reading space dedicated to exploring specific themes every three months and producing new texts around them.
The initiative is part of Honna’s “Feminist Pedagogy” program, which seeks to rethink knowledge and its modes of production from a feminist and participatory perspective.
Participants change with each cycle, keeping the group open to new voices and experiences every time — ensuring diversity in readings, approaches, and perspectives.
The first cycle focused on motherhood, drawing on personal experiences as well as theoretical and literary texts that reimagined motherhood beyond its traditional representations.
The current cycle explores feminist cinema, an attempt to address the lack of feminist critical writing on film and to contribute new insights to the Arabic library.
The Reading Group at Honna is a space for collective thinking and writing — an invitation to rediscover texts through an open dialogue between body, experience, and knowledge.
