Honna launched its Feminist Translation Workshop at the beginning of August, and the team is now in the editing and text preparation phase.
Held annually as part of Honna’s ongoing program for feminist knowledge production and circulation, the workshop approaches translation as a critical and political act, not merely a transfer between languages.
Participants are trained to translate through a feminist lens, engaging with texts by women writers and developing an awareness of language as a site of power and meaning.
This year, the selected readings focus on the works of Judith Butler.
The workshop aims to build a generation of translators who see translation as part of a broader liberatory and feminist project.
At Honna, we translate to understand — and we write to transform.
