Elles cinema presented a screening of the Tunisian film Beauty and the Dogs by director Kawther Ben Hania, with the participation of the film’s lead actress, Mariem Ferjani.
The film is inspired by a real-life incident that shook public opinion in Tunisia in 2012. Since its premiere in 2017, it has been featured in prominent international film festivals, including the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes, the Carthage Film Festival, and the Minsk International Film Festival. The film also won the Best Film award at the Lumière French International Film Festival, bringing global attention to Tunisian cinema.
The screening was followed by an open discussion with Mariem Ferjani about her experience in the film, behind-the-scenes moments, and her memories of working on the project, providing deeper insights into the characters and the film’s context.
