Video | Introduction to Feminist Translation with Dr. Hala Kamal

Elles Publishing House organized a workshop titled “Introduction to Feminist Translation,” led by Dr. Hala Kamal, Professor of English Literature and Gender Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University. The session served as a prelude to the second round of the Feminist Translation Workshop, which brings together a group of translators.

This event is part of the workshop’s annual tradition, now in its third year, beginning with an introductory session led by Dr. Hala Kamal, who is also a board member of the Women and Memory Forum and the New Woman Foundation.

The workshop introduced the concept and history of feminist translation, exploring the reasons behind its importance, as well as the challenges and complexities translators may face when working with texts. The session also included reading and discussing selected texts as practical applications of feminist translation approaches.
