Novelist and journalist Rana Hassan published a report in Al-Ahram Weekly on the First Feminist and Independent Publishing Conference 2026, organized by Elles Publishing House in Cairo on May 1 and 2, with the participation of writers, publishers, researchers, and those interested in the publishing industry.
The report highlighted the conference’s main sessions and discussions, including topics related to independent and feminist publishing, archives and memory, the economics of publishing, as well as testimonies and experiences drawn from cultural and editorial practice.
It also shed light on the conference’s role as a space for dialogue around the future of independent and feminist publishing, the challenges facing it, and emerging publishing formats connected to digital and audio platforms.
